Irene Li is the co-creator of the Mei Mei Street Kitchen food truck, an innovative, locally-sourced, Asian-inspired lunch purveyor that won a “Best of Boston” award in its first year in business.
“In the kitchen, creativity is messy. Sometimes we find a dish we want to make, and we systematically create it from the top down, using a recipe as guidance and providing our own touches. Sometimes we invent things… The Double Awesome, our signature sandwich and bestseller, we invented from the leftovers of three other dishes. It just sort of happened—a lot of our food is like that. Our creativity comes out of limitations, some of which are self-imposed.”
