Jehane Noujaim ’92

jehane-noujaimJehane Noujaim is an Egyptian-American documentary filmmaker. Following the release of Control Room, which explored Al Jazeera, the U.S. military’s Central Command, and the contrasting ways of reporting the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Noujaim was awarded a 2006 TED Prize. Her film The Square was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2014.

You have to just accept the fact that it’s a glimpse into these worlds, and you hope it’s going to be a valuable glimpse for people, or motivate people to get into discussions, or look a little bit deeper—to think about people on the other side of the conflict as human beings.”
